Sorghum is common in many countries of the world. In India, the area of crops is 16 million hectares, in the USA — 5.7 million hectares, in Africa — 15.4 million hectares. Large acreage is available in the Middle East, China, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Australia, South America, Japan.
There are no statistics on sorghum in Russia. It is assumed that the area of crops is 20-30 thousand hectares, the gross grain harvest is 25-35 thousand tons. The main sown areas are concentrated in the arid steppe of the Southern Federal District (North Caucasus and Lower Volga region).
